“Al” over on YouTube recently put up a video of himself taking a shower, thankfully keeping the naughty bits out of frame. With Navy Showers, he explains, we can all do our part to conserve water. These modified showers are often used on boats or submarines where fresh water is at a premium.
Briefly, here’s how to take a Navy Shower:
Turn on water
Wet your body thoroughly, but quickly
Turn off water
Lather up and scrub
Turn water back on and thoroughly rinse off the soap
It’s been about a month since Comic-Con International 2008 in San Diego, CA, but I think this post is still of interest to many of you Dr. Horrible & Joss Whedon fans out there. I am a huge fan of Firefly and Dr. Horrible myself, so I was pretty bummed when I couldn’t make it into the panel. There were just too many people! Luckily, generous Vimeo user “hacksaway” posted up video of the panel to the internets in 5 easy-to-digest chunks. It’s also on Youtube, but this version has far-superior video and audio quality.
Part one is posted above. Read on if you want parts 2-5.
I have a special place in my heart for all things Lego since they made up a huge part of my childhood. I’d love building race cars, mecha battle suits, and submarine tanks for hours on end. So, these days, whenever I see anything rendered in Lego, I must tell everyone about it. The Hong Kong Lego User Group skillfully pieced together this epic replica of the Beijing games and it really looks amazing. Hop over to the Mail Online to see more photos including my favorite: the Beijing National Aquatics Center. Better photos are available on the Hong Kong Lego User Group’s site.
We all find it difficult to wake up in the morning and hitting the snooze button is oh-so tempting to do. What if there was a tasty incentive to wake up? Enter, the Wake n’ Bacon, an alarm clock that gently wakes you up with the pleasant aroma of bacon instead of that harsh, electronic beep. Just pop in two frozen strips of bacon before you sleep and halogen lamps will cook the breakfast treat to perfection at the right time. Who could resist?… er… maybe Jewish folks could use tofu bacon instead.
Smokey the Parrot is an ardent supporter of Barack Obama. He tirelessly repeats the presidential candidate’s signature, oft-imitated, campaign slogan as well. Obama should showcase this bird at his next stump speech.
Guys (and or bearded ladies) - need help trimming down that goatee? Pop this device on your face and shave away, removing the cruft and protecting your precious patch of hair. I’m not sure what to make of it, myself. Is it the latest robotic fashions from the future or is it Engadget’s new line of SM wear?
It’s funny, just watch it. If you’re a Twitter user, you’ll feel for him. Related: Jennifer’s Twitter Tatter comic. For the record, she did this before Penny Arcade did theirs!
We’re finally back with another episode of the MundaneCast where we discuss Puzzle Quest, Robert Llewellyn’s Making Do, Logging Exercises with Twitter, enthusiasts, cuss words, and much much more.
Hi Folks! We’re still alive and plan on creating more content for Behold the Mundane. Over the next few days, we’re going to be merging our Podcast and Comic blogs into this site. Stay tuned!
In tonight’s MundaneCast, we talk about the topic of desire. We start the discussion with a question, “What do you want for your birthday?” Along the way, we mention Chip-n-Dale’s Maid Service, Matrix, red-envelopes, Madonna, HDTVs, huge Cost-co ice cream bars, and fortune cookies.
